Ashville Student in National Contest
Ashville 2nd grade student Tanner Burns, the grandson of TVHS cafeteria manager Carla Ballard, was recently a top 10 finalist in a national children’s burger cook-off sponsored by Red Robin.
The process started when Tanner entered at a local restaurant and was the winner there, then in November he was notified that he was a top 10 finalist nationally and was flown to Denver from December 2-4 for final judging. Although he did not win at that level, he still received the trip to Denver, a $100 Red Robin gift card, a $150 Visa card, a plaque, a cook book and a chef’s coat signed by Chef Robin Miller.
According to Tanner, his favorite part was being on the local news, being in the Dispatch and flying on an airplane for the first time.
Tanner is pictured in his new chef’s outfit.
