Members of the TVEMS MathCounts team were recognized during the March Board Meeting. These students included Chris Mills, Clinton Stamper, Tony Testa, Clayton Schneider, Martina Peters, Michael Piko, Ben Caplan, Alex Cummings, Cassie Bookman, Patrick Williams, Kerstin Laytart and Nick Evans. They were coached by TVEMS math teacher Kristen King. The team of Clayton Schneider, Clinton Stamper, Chris Mills and Tony Testa placed 1st at the Chapter Competition and qualified for State. Clinton Stamper got 2nd Place Individual at the Chapter Competition, Chris Mills got 5th Place Individual at the Chapter Comp and the team of Clayton Schneider, Clinton Stamper, Chris Mills and Ben Caplan placed 33rd at State Competition.
February 2010
The District Spelling Bee winners were recognized during the February board. These students represented Teays Valley at the County Spelling Bee on February 4. The students included: 4th Grade—Hayley Urban, Ashville Elementary & Tanner Stultz, Walnut Elementary, 5th Grade—Kaley Starkey, Scioto Elementary & Travis Grimm, Walnut Elementary, 6th Grade—Olivia Paterson, TVEMS & MacKenzie Howbert, TVWMS, 7th Grade—Makenzie Moore, TVEMS & Emily Breech, TVWMS and 8th Grade—Ashley Fortner, TVEMS & Carly Rice, TVWMS.

Teays Valley Athletic Director Jim Hayes was recognized during the November board meeting for his efforts during the construction project to help make the athletics events happen and run smoothly.

Andy Welsh and Alice Beckman-Jamison were recognized during the November board meeting for being chosen as semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. For more information about this honor, go to http://www.nationalmerit.org/index.php.

October 2009
Senior Megan Rainey was recognized during the October board meeting
for winning a national writing award. She was honored as an outstanding writer in the 2009 National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards in Writing.
May 2009
Four bus drivers were recognized during the May board meeting. Terry Barr,
Ron Bumgarner, LaDawna Dent and Rodney Keirns were chosen by their fellow
bus drivers as the drivers who demonstrate a strong commitment to
their job, outstanding attendance, safe driving and staff cooperation. LaDawna Dent was also nominated by the district for regional bus
driver of the year.
May 2009
A number of Teays Valley teachers have recently earned the designation
of Master Teacher. All of the Teays Valley Master Teachers were
recognized during the May board meeting. These teachers include Becci
Branson, Sheila Clements, Teresa Emerine, Lisa Etzler, Ginny Gebhart,
Annette Jones, Beth Keplar, Laura Nungester, Bobbi Ratcliff and Mike
Wayt.
February 2009
The TVHS In the Know Team was recognized during the February board
meeting. The team finished the season 1st in the MSL. The students
included Garrett Strait, Eric Lundy, Camille Scott, Andy Welsh, Sarah
Welsh, Shawn Thomas, Sadie Dillon and Colton Henson.
