DESTINATION IMAGINATION
Are you interested in Destination Imagination (DI)?
Think of it as Creativity 101…
It is extracurricular activity for kids who want to develop important, lifelong skills.
Based on the concept of divergent thinking, understanding that there is more than one way to solve a problem.
Teays Valley is a sponsor, but the parents are the team managers for up to a 7-student team. The qualities that are necessary for a team manager are:
- Has a good sense of humor
- Appreciates creativity and innovation in all its forms
- Enjoys working with children and young adults
- Is interested in helping kids learn about creative problem solving
- Wants to join the world of Destination ImagiNation and share with other caring adults
- Has a positive and friendly attitude
Grade Levels – Students from grades Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade may participate in DI.
K-2 students participate in a non-competitive challenge "Rising Stars." Grades K-5 could compete in the Elementary level. Middle School level competitors are Grades 6-8. High School is the senior level that would compete with Grades 9-12.
Parents, family, friends and community members are the backbone of Destination Imagination. They serve as coaches and appraisers for the teams. If your interest is tweaked, we could use extra adult hands to get our teams through the process.
