TVHS Band Students Honored
On January 17, two high school instrumental music students participated in the Ohio State
University Honors Band Weekend. Ben Crowder (trombone) and Sarah Tussing (flute) were
selected to participate in the Honors Band weekend based on outstanding musicianship
demonstrated on recordings evaluated by the School of Music Professors. Congratulations to
Sarah and Ben on being chosen to participate in this prestigious event!

Pickaway County Council on Youth Leadership
On September 5, TVHS senior Nathan Buxbaum was honored at a banquet at Ohio Christian University as the Outstanding Leader
at Teays Valley High School for 2009. He was honored by the Pickaway County Council on Youth Leadership for his leadership
skills demonstrated both in and out of school. Through PCCYL, Nathan will travel to St. Louis, Missouri, in October, along with
several hundred other seniors from across the country to attend the Town Meeting on Tomorrow. In addition, Nathan received a
$500 scholarship in recognition of his achievements.
Senior Ian Schwartz was also honored at the banquet. He was recognized for having the most outstanding essay on the topic of "What Makes Me a Leader?" Ian received a $100 scholarship in recognition of his outstanding essay.
Congratulations to both of these Teays Valley seniors!
Fall Athletics
Congratulations to the fall sports teams that were 2009 MSL champs! These teams include girls' tennis, girls' soccer, boys' soccer and boys' cross country.
Megan Rainey
TVHS senior Megan Rainey won a national writing award. She was honored as an outstanding writer in the 2009 National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards in Writing. Congratulations to Megan!
