Judge Jan Long
Judge Jan Michael Long of the Pickaway County Juvenile Court visited the third grade classes of Mrs. Musick and Mrs. Happenny in February. Judge Long read a book about Abraham Lincoln to the classes then answered the students' questions.

RIF Program
The Reading is Fundamental Program, with help from the Teays Valley Educational Foundation, provided a book and T-shirt to every 2nd grade student in the Teays Valley elementary schools. A representative from both groups visited the students to read to them and hand out the books.

Hats for Haiti
On January 22, Walnut held "Hats for Haiti." The students donated $.50 or a jar of peanut butter to wear a hat that day. They raised over $600 and collected 150 jars of peanut butter. The money has been donated to the Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti. The peanut butter was given to a girl scout troop in Ashville and was sent to Haiti.
Christmas Show
The 5th grade students performed their Christmas show for the entire school on December 14. They did an encore presentation for parents and guests that evening.
