Summer learning camps wrapped up today with some music therapy, outdoor phonics,cooperative game play, cooking and popsicles. The students had a great time sharpening their learning and life skills.
The Pickaway County ESC is running a month-long Credit Recovery and Enrichment Summer Camp June 3-28 for grades 8-12. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Teays Valley High School FOR Club pickleball tournament will now be held on Wednesday, May 8, from 6-9 p.m., with games starting at 6:30. All games will be played at the TVHS tennis courts. If you would like to be a part of the tournament, sign up here:

CCP Information Night will be held in the TVHS auditorium on January 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. for any student who plans to take college courses at the high school or on a college campus for the 2024-2025 school year. A parent must be in attendance with the student during the meeting. Students who are currently enrolled in the 2023-2024 school year do not need to attend. We hope to see you there!
We are excited to welcome Heith Good and Mike France to the Board of Education! Tonight was their first official meeting as members of the Board.
Congratulations to the Board of Education members who were sworn in as members of the Board this evening. Roxanne Davis was reelected to the Board while Heith Good and Mike France were elected to their first terms.

Scioto Elementary academic coach Tayde Boetcher - "Mrs. Boetcher is a valuable member of our Scioto staff. She is a 'do it all' teammate and she does it all with a smile. Mrs. Boetcher focuses on the student, his/her needs, and meeting those needs regardless of the time and energy it takes on her part. She's 100% for kids and doing what's best for them always. She jumps in to support wherever we need her. On the daily she runs reading groups, monitors lunches, helps with before/after school dismissal, covers duties and classrooms, as well as helps to lead our BLT team. She is a role model and excels in connecting with not only students, but people in general. She has a special gift of empathy and care that is much appreciated by anyone lucky enough to know her. We are very grateful that Tayde is serving our students here at Scioto and adding value to others each day!"
Walnut Elementary School intervention specialist Shannon Bumgarner - "When you think of the word connect you think of Mrs. Bumgarner. She builds authentic relationships with her students by respecting their needs, creating engaging and meaningful lessons and giving it her all every single day. We are so thankful to have an intervention specialist like Mrs. Bumgarner at Walnut Elementary."
Walnut Elementary School kindergarten teacher Leslie Cassidy - "Mrs. Cassidy is a fantastic teammate at Walnut. She supports not only our students, but our staff members as well. You can always count on her to greet you with a smile, be supportive and never shy away from a challenge. We are grateful to have her as a kindergarten teacher!"
Ashville Elementary School kindergarten teacher Heather Humphries - "Thank you to Heather for making relationships with her students and families a priority. She has always been quick to sincerely welcome new students, demonstrates extreme patience and consistently provides the differentiated support each of her students need. Thank you, Heather, for all that you do!"
TVHS substitute teacher Lori Madden - "Mrs. Madden just completed a long-term substitute position at TVHS. The staff and administration cannot say enough wonderful things about Mrs. Madden. She approached each day with enthusiasm and cared about the students and ensured that they were receiving high quality instruction."
Representatives from Walnut traveled to Washington D. C. to accept the National Blue Ribbon School award from the U.S. Department of Education. Congratulations to Walnut and Viking Nation on this prestigious national honor!
Ashville Elementary School intervention specialist Tricia Okuley - "Thank you to Mrs. Oukley for going above and beyond to connect with our students! Anyone that knows Tricia knows that she is a go getter. This year she has been intentional about building relationship with her students, inviting them in early before school, providing snacks and an opportunity for conversations. She consistently communicates with families and goes out of her way to support them. We appreciate you, Mrs. Okuley, and the difference you make!"
Teays Valley High School intervention specialist Shelly Arledge - "Ms. Arledge has really assisted our special education department this school year. She has worked closely with our newly hired staff members and has provided them guidance and encouragement. When something needs done, Ms. Arledge steps up and lends a helping hand!"
Walnut Elementary School-Teays Valley intervention specialist Lauren Alkire - "We are so lucky to have a teacher like Lauren at Walnut Elementary. She works hard to connect with students and staff. As an intervention specialist, she continually plans lessons that are engaging and meaningful to her students. She also supports her 4th grade team by providing resources and knowledge of best practices."
Congratulations to Teays Valley High School environmental science teacher Jessica Holes and the TVHS environmental science program for being honored as a branch level recipient of the Environmental Excellence in Education Program from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
This is awarded to recognize their achievement in improving Ohio's environment, implementing interdisciplinary environmental education into their curriculum and providing opportunities for students to be involved in environmental stewardship.
