A group of TV staff members wrapped up Orton Gillingham training today. This training is a structured approach to helping struggling readers. The skills gained and reviewed during this training will be invaluable for our students!
Congratulations to the TV treasurer’s department, which is led by treasurer Trey Fausnaugh. They were honored by the Ohio Auditor of State with the Auditor of State Award at tonight’s Board of Education meeting. Of the 6,000 entities that are audited each year, this award is only given to the top 10%. We are grateful for this department for their dedication to the district and its finances.

Summer learning camps wrapped up today with some music therapy, outdoor phonics,cooperative game play, cooking and popsicles. The students had a great time sharpening their learning and life skills.
Due to a scheduling conflict, the Teays Valley High School FOR Club pickleball tournament will now be held on Wednesday, May 8, from 6-9 p.m., with games starting at 6:30. All games will be played at the TVHS tennis courts. If you would like to be a part of the tournament, sign up here:

Congratulations to the Board of Education members who were sworn in as members of the Board this evening. Roxanne Davis was reelected to the Board while Heith Good and Mike France were elected to their first terms.

Scioto Elementary academic coach Tayde Boetcher - "Mrs. Boetcher is a valuable member of our Scioto staff. She is a 'do it all' teammate and she does it all with a smile. Mrs. Boetcher focuses on the student, his/her needs, and meeting those needs regardless of the time and energy it takes on her part. She's 100% for kids and doing what's best for them always. She jumps in to support wherever we need her. On the daily she runs reading groups, monitors lunches, helps with before/after school dismissal, covers duties and classrooms, as well as helps to lead our BLT team. She is a role model and excels in connecting with not only students, but people in general. She has a special gift of empathy and care that is much appreciated by anyone lucky enough to know her. We are very grateful that Tayde is serving our students here at Scioto and adding value to others each day!"
Scioto Elementary 2nd grade teacher Christa Pontius - "When it comes to advocating for kids and their needs, celebrating the small wins and having incredible patience, Christa Pontius wins the prize. Mrs. Pontius has a gift of connecting with kids and celebrating their successes. She knows the importance of home-school connection and works collaboratively with parents to help her students be successful. She plays a big role in kids' lives and you can tell by her actions, attitude and words that she is passionate about her work."
Staff Recognition! Intervention specialist Courteney Beachy - "Mrs. Beachy has been such a wonderful addition to our staff here at Scioto. This has been recognized by not only the administrative team, but her peers have been singing her praises as well. Mrs. Beachy intentionally connects with not only students on a daily basis, but also colleagues and the families she serves. She goes above and beyond as an intervention specialist and works to meet the unique learning needs of each individual student. She is also a team player and recently became a teacher leader for our Student Leadership Team. We are so grateful to have Mrs. Beachy adding value to others around her here at Scioto." #VikingPride
